I recently found something by the name of “Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows“. Words in this dictionary describe feelings you may not have been aware of or that can’t be described using words. The one word that describes how I feel all the time when I am mindlessly people watching or waiting for someone in a busy area is Sonder.
Sonder is the moment you realized that every random person you see has a complex life of their own. Their life as vivid as yours. You start to realize that you are surrounded by these “lives”. That feeling that everyone has dreams of their own that they are trying to achieve or struggles that they are trying to overcome.
This feeling makes me feel more connected to the world around me but at the same time insignificant. What feelings do you have that can’t be explain in words?
